They’re Like Lay’s Potato Chips…

…you can’t have just one. With that thought in mind, here’s a freshly minted GNU/Linux distribution for you diehard experimenters to check out.

LDR – Linux Done Right

LDR is another wonderful choice (ain’t GNU/Linux great!?) in your further Linux adventures. It was recently transformed from idea to actual distribution by friend Thomas Medhurst. It’s based on Arch Linux and uses the Gnome Desktop Environment.

Keep in mind, this one is fresh off the assembly line. It might need some polishing and tweaking here and there. Get in on the ground floor on another new GNU/Linux, folks. Thomas is also very interested in hearing any and all feedback and suggestions. You can contact him at the LDR webpage or his own personal webpage.

Give it a go… might be fun!

Later…

~Eric

Looks interesting, I may have to check it out when I get the time. Too bad they do not offer a 64bit version of the distro.

Downloading now. 1.13GB seems rather large for an Arch based distro. ;)

Site went down right after my download started???? Oooopps….I broke it. :( Sorry :)

    • I’m not sure what Thomas is using for an installer. It may not be the standard Arch command line installer. Also, he may have chose to put the X and desktop manager software on the disk rather than have you install it later via command line download post-installation. Also, it looks like you d-loaded 1.07. I believe that 1.06 is the stable version. Anywho… it’s a work in progress. Be patient. :)

Thanks Eric, I am using AIF (Arch’s standard installation framework), but our installer uses the automation stuff to do everything automatically, otherwise you’d have to manually select all packages that weren’t in core!

version 1.09 is now released and is far more stable! :)

      • 1.09? Excellent! Making progress, I see. :)

Maybe that is how I broke the website. I attempted to down load the unstable version 1.07. :) so unstable it brought down the whole site. :(

Let it be known, I am only a victim of circumstance. LOL :)
