    Good post. I’ve been reading lately some of those old Ritchie/Kernighan/Pike books like “The C Programming Language”, “The UNIX Programming Environment”, “The Awk Programming Language” etc., despite not being a professional programmer myself, I have to say, these are the best computer books I’ve ever read. C is more than 40 years old and is still massively used and it’s not going anywhere any time soon. And imagine a computing world without UNIX… Maybe we would be running something like this

    • Yes, UNIX has played, and will continue to play, a prominent role in our world. I’m sure we would have found other ways had UNIX or C not been invented, but they wouldn’t have been as elegant, I don’t think.
